She married Howard James Georgeson on Jan. 12, 1938. They had two children, JoAnne and Jim. They lived on a farm close to Wall Lake and worked road construction and farmed until 1953 when they sold the farm and purchased Turkey Ridge Store and Turkey Ridge Oil Company. In 1958 they sold Turkey Ridge Store and moved to Hurley but continued to operate the Oil Company.
Howard was killed in an auto accident in 1962 and Phyllis continued to own and operate the Oil Company.
Phyllis then married Eugene Friman on Dec. 2, 1965. They ran the oil company until August 1987.
Phyllis and Gene raised many different animals, most notably buffalo and llama on their acreage in Hurley which was often referred to as the Hurley zoo.
