Pheasants fall at Winner Quad

Shane Merrill | Writer

WINNER-The Parker wrestling team traveled to Winner last week for a jam packed weekend. The Pheasants were first set to face off on Friday night in the Winner quad, where they would see Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes, and then move on to the annual Winner tournament on Saturday. The Pheasants wrestled hard Friday night, but fell to both opponents. “Friday night we wrestled a couple duals against KWLPG and Winner. We were unable to get wins in either dual. The Pheasants wrestled better against Winner, but came up short in the end. It was a great learning experience for future duals.,” commented coach John Silvernail.

Parker rebounds to runner-up finish at Winner tournament

Coming off a disappointing Friday night, the Parker wrestlers once again took to the mats for the annual Winner tournament on Saturday morning. The Pheasants brushed aside any disappointment and came out on fire, placing  11 wrestlers in the top six, highlighted by two titles, one at 106 by Andrew Even and the other by brother Tanner Even at 195. Mace Plucker (145) an Kaleb Buseman (138) were also second in their respective classes.

“The Winner weekend went fast, but we learned a lot,” said head coach John Silvernail. “We had a great time building our team and it was nice to perform on Saturday. Thanks to all the fans that made the trek out west to watch us wrestle.”

Parker will next host their home tournament Saturday, Feb. 1 and ask for a full house in attendance.
