Vicki Gay Brandsgaard, was born in Sioux Falls, on Nov. 12, 1944, the daughter of Kenneth and Thelma (Peterson) Brandsgaard. She attended Lowell Elementary, Edison Middle School in Sioux Falls, Buboltz Rural School near Harrisburg and then Lennox High School.
On July 21, 1961 she married Henry “Sonny” Fincher, Jr. at the West Wall Lake Zion Lutheran Church. The couple resided in several homes in the Chancellor vicinity before settling at their rural Chancellor home in 1983. Vicki had worked for Adams Thermal Manufacturing (McCord), Canton, for over 20 years.
Vicki and Sonny were married for 55 years before his passing in February of 2017.
Vicki attended Chancellor Reformed Church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed word search puzzles and Christmas baking. She was an excellent seamstress and canned award winning pickles.
Besides her parents and husband, Vicki was preceded in death by her grandparents and several aunts and uncles.
Vicki was a devoted mother to her surviving children: Randy Fincher, Chancellor, Melinda (Wayne) Kontz, Fort Collins, Colo., and Marsha (Mike) Peterson, Sioux Falls. Also surviving are her siblings: Kent (Pat) Brandsgaard, Sioux Falls and Lynne (Paul) Davis, Portland, Ore.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, her special cat, Sally and many other relatives and friends.
Services will be held Saturday, Sept. 7 at Dindot-Klusmann Chapel in Lennox with interment in the Chancellor Reformed Cemetery.
