Parker topples Bulldogs

Shane Merrill | Writer

Coming off a tough loss to arch rival Chester, the Parker volleyball team was set to face off against an up and coming Bulldogs squad. Baltic and nipped the Pheasants in the BEC tournament, but the Pheasants were able to avenge the loss and move to 12-4 on the season.

All three sets were nearly identical, with Parker able to close each set with a close win. The Pheasants started the first set with a nice run, but the Bulldogs kept it close, nip and tuck the entire way. Parker edged out the visitors 25-23 to lead the match 1-0 behind solid net play from Shelby Lang, Brooke Berens and Sydney Berens.

The second set was just as close, with each team rallying throughout. Parker again led late and took the win 25-22, leading the match at 2-0. The Pheasants managed to close the door in the third set in another close battle, helping take the win 25-22 and the match 3-0.

Leading Parker in the match was Shelby Lang with nine kills while Brooke and Sydney Berens both had eight respectively.

Cierra Mohr also had three aces while Breana Jensen led the defense with 23 digs, Cierra Mohr nine, Brianna Berens seven, and Rayna Mohr six.

Parker next played in the Pentagon tournament in Sioux Falls on Saturday.
