The Parker Pheasant volleyball squad was looking to hold on to the conference tournament trophy they earned a year ago, but had their hopes dashed in the first round to MCM. The Pheasants, however disappointed, had no time to dwell as they turned around and played two more matches to determine their place, putting together two nail-biter wins, on their way to fifth place.
Fresh off a five set win to MCM at home just seven days prior, Parker was set to face the Fighting Cougars once again. This time on a neutral court the Fighting Cougars held the advantage 3-0.
The first set was all MCM as they jumped to six point lead and never looked back on their way to a 25-14 victory.
The second and third sets were much closer, with the Pheasants in the sets until the end, but MCM was able to get the edge, 25-22 in each set.
In their second match of the night Parker faced off against Flandreau and was able to win in straight sets. The Pheasants had an edge in all three, winning 25-22, 25-23 and 25-23.
The third match of the tournament pitted Parker against Beresford, another longtime foe. The match looked to be the Watchdogs, as they jumped to a 2-0 lead, however a late rally in the third set resulted in a 28-26 Parker win with the Pheasants also getting the edge in set three, 25-21. The final set found Parker down early, but somehow the Pheasants found a way, going on to win the fifth 15-13 and the match 3-2.
Next up Parker faced Tea.
