Lincoln County group raising funds for new fairgrounds

LENNOX — With the purchase of the Goeman Auction grounds north of Lennox, by the Lincoln County Commission in December, the newly formed Lincoln County Fairgrounds Foundation Inc. is working to raise money to build facilities on the grounds.

The foundation invites the community to a “Raising the Roof” event to raise money for a livestock facility on the fairgrounds. The ticketed event is geared toward those 18 years old and older and is planned for Saturday, March 14 at 6 p.m. The event includes a beef brisket meal, singing entertainment and live and silent auctions.

A 4-H T-shirt quilt made by Sharon Bruns and quilted by The Shanty Stitchers is planned to be raffled off that night.

Tickets are $30 for a single ticket or $50 for a couple and can be purchased at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds at SD Highway 17, Lennox. Tickets can also be purchased by contacting the foundation by email at Linco.fairgrounds@gmail.com, by phone at 605-695-9819 or through the group’s Facebook page.

The foundation has also kicked off a “Buy-A-Brick” campaign geared toward 4-H families, clubs and alumni. Brick forms can be found at the following locations in the area:

Alcester: Premiere Bank.

Beresford: First Dakota National Bank and First Savings Bank.
