Parker

Andrew J. Dykshorn was born on Nov. 24, 1945, at Mitchell to Andrew and Irene Hohn. He was one of six children and Charley and Katie Dykshorn adopted him and two of his brothers.  He grew up in the Harrison area and was united in marriage to Marilyn Faye Muckey on March 5, 1965.  God blessed them with three children, Michael, Lisa and Lana.

They moved to Iowa, where he worked for different farmers and worked at the Hull’s creamery.  They moved back to South Dakota, where he attended trucking school and he was an over-the-road trucker for several years until he was forced to retire due to being diagnosed with COPD in 2001.  He was an avid fisherman and liked working on cars.  He was a longtime member of the Calvary Reformed Church.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Marilyn, three children, Michael (Rosie) Dykshorn, Parker, Lisa DeBates, Sleepy Eye, Minn. and Lana Dykshorn, Chancellor, 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister Mary Mahoney, Sioux Falls.  He was preceded in death by a sister Patricia and three brothers, Richard, James and Edward.

In lieu of flowers, memorials maybe directed to the Children’s Home Society.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 7, at the Calvary Reformed Church in Monroe, with burial at Rosehill Cemetery, Parker.

Arrangements provided by Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home.
