Cougars topple Pheasants

Shane Merrill | Writer

The Parker girls opened the first game of the night last Tuesday evening facing off against the 13-2 Viborg-Hurley Cougars. Both teams battled in a slow start, but the Cougars got the offense flowing in the second quarter on their way to a 60-40 victory.

Parker scored the first five points of the game, forcing a V-H timeout.

Lexi Even and Cierra Mohr helped Parker to the early lead, but the Cougars stormed right back, leading 9-6 after one.

Viborg-Hurley managed to put up 20 points in the second quarter, holding Parker to 13 and leading 29-19 at the half.

It was all Cougar from there on out, as the visitors managed to outscore Parker in the final frames, going on to take the win 60-40 and improving to 14-2.

Even led the offense for Parker with 17 points while Cierra Mohr had 13 points and 10 rebounds good enough for a double-double.

Leading Viborg-Hurley was Sydney Voss with 18 points and nine rebounds while NeVaeh Ronke had 14 points and 13 rebounds. Coral Mason also had seven assists.

Up next Parker played Sioux Valley on Saturday.
