The Parker 10U Blue baseball team took a major step in their season last Monday night, topping Lennox Dressen 10-0 and in the process clinched the league title as well. Parker used their one two punch of strong pitching and hitting to take the win and move to 11-0 with one game remaining on the season.
Taking the mound was Luke Travnicek for the first four innings, allowing zero runs on two hits and striking out eight. Marquice Bortnem entered in the fifth inning to finish things out striking out two.
Leading the offense was Rush Bleyenberg going 3 for 3 and driving in four runs. Levi Rand also had a home run in the third inning, helping push the Parker lead to 7-0.
Parker put the visitors away for good in the final inning, scoring three more to make it 10-0 with the 10 run rule in effect.
Parker was able to steal seven bases in the game, and out hit the visitors 7-2. The Pheasants also had one error.
“This was our goal since day one,” said coach Shane Merrill. “These guys wanted this league championship so bad and I’m proud of how they responded to get it. They just show up every night and take care of business and have fun doing it. That’s what it’s all about.”
Up next Parker faced Tea Schramm with their sights set on an undefeated season.
