Parker blanks Canistota

Shane Merrill | Sports

Fresh off a victory at Lennox, the Parker volleyball squad was looking to stay hot last week as they traveled to Canistota to face the Hawks. Parker wasted little time on the hosts winning in straight sets 3-0.

The first set was all Parker as the hitting trio of Brooke Berens, Katie Bialas and Halle Berens all went to work, helping take the win 25-13.

The second set and third sets were nearly the same, with Parker winning 25-16 and 25-14.

Brooke Berens led the Parker attack with 12 kills while Bialas had 10 and Halle Berens six. Terryn Fuller also managed 27 asssits. On defense, Lexi Even had 21 assists while Brooke Berens had 19.

Up next Parker face foe Parkston.

Pheasants power past Parkston

Just weeks after falling to the Parkston Trojans in the semi-finals of the Pentagon volleyball tournament in a nail biter, Parker was set to host the Trojans at home with the post season in the near future. This time the Pheasants put together arguably one of their best matches of the season, winning in straight sets 3-0.

The first set was back and forth with both teams battling to the end. The set was tied at 24-24 and again 25-25 with the Pheasants finally taking the victory 28-26.

The second set was also close early but Parker pulled away down the stretch, winning 25-19 thanks again to the hitting of Brooke Berens, Halle Berens and Katie Bialas.

The third frame was also the Pheasants, as Parker took the win 25-19 for a 3-0 sweep.

The offense was powered by Brooke Berens with 12 kills while Halle Berens had 12 and Bialas eight. Defesively, Janae Olson had four blocks while Lexi Even had 27 digs and Josie Leberman 13. Terryn Fuller also dished out 32 assists.

The win was the third in a row for Parker (all sweeps) as they look to finish the season on a hot streak next facing Flandreau on Tue. Oct. 19.
