Levi Rand scored the go-ahead run in the final inning, helping lead Parker Blue to a 5-3 victory last Wednesday against Lennox Hannsen.
The Pheasants were first up to bat in the game, with Rand singling and stealing to second when Colin Robertson hammered a home run deep into the right field, giving Parker an early 2-0 lead. Rush Bleyenberg also singled and stole all the way around to third, and taking home on an overthrow, putting Parker up 3-0 to start the game.
Benson Jones started on the mound for Parker, going two innings allowing just one run, when Robertson was brought in until the end.
Lennox knotted the game in the fourth inning and it remained tight until the sixth inning. Lead off Rand was up to bat first in the final frame, and was walked, stealing his way around to third base. After two strikeouts Rand caught the Oriole defense sleeping, sliding into the home on a steal and giving Parker the go ahead run.
Lennox then walked the bases loaded, and walked Kaden Fosheim who battled at the plate, scoring one more insurance run giving the Pheasants a 5-3 lead. Robertson closed out the final inning striking out two and fielding a grounder near first, helping the Pheasants cling to a 5-3 victory and move to 3-0 on the season.
“It’s always nice to leave Lennox with a win,” said head coach Shane Merrill. “They have a great program and it seems to always be a battle. I was proud of our guys and how hard they wanted this one. We had some heads up base running and some big hits early which helped us settle in.”
Up next Parker played another Lennox squad before facing Tea on Thursday.
