The Parker Pheasants were back in action Saturday morning, facing off against rival McCook Central/Montrose in the semi finals of the BEC tournament. Parker had just beaten the Fighting Cougars a week prior 3-1, and this match was no different, with tight scores the whole way and Parker taking the win 3-1 once again.
The first set was arguably the most comfortable for Parker. The Pheasants used strong serving and hitting to take an early advantage and hold on for a sound 25-18 victory.
The second was back and forth the whole way with both teams trading blows all the way to the end. It took extra points to decide the winner, but in the end the Fighting Cougars snuck in two late points, taking the victory 30-28, and knotting the match at 1-1.
The second set once again found the Pheasants out front, building a solid lead and leading 24-20 late. MCM did manage a couple late points, but Parker was still able to hold on for a 25-22 win, going back out front 2-1.
The final frame had both teams trading blows again, but in the end Parker held on for a 25-23 victory, sending them to the conference tournament finals.
Leading Parker was Brooke Berens with 18 kills while Sarah Herlyn had 10. The duo also combined for three blocks apiece. Defensively, Breana Jensen had 27 digs while Shelby Lang had 16 and Lexi Even 15. Cierra Mohr also had 29 set assists.
Parker next faced an up and coming Garretson squad in the finals.
