The Parker wrestling team, fresh off a 2-1 start, headed to Dell Rapids last week for the annual Top of the Rock tournament. Parker had several wrestlers finish in the top five, totaling 103 team points.
Leding Parker was Charlie Patten and Levi Wieman who both finished as runner-up in their weight classes. Patten rolled into the championship but fell in 7-1 against Jordan Gall of BonHomme/Scotland/Avon. Other top finishers included Riley Pankratz in fourth during his first varsity tournament, Logan Buseman in third, Andrew Even fourth, Connor Even third and Zanto Centeno fifth.
Jack Even also finished in third on the day, earning his first tournament place in his career, and earning the Parker wrestler of the day award.
Geoff Dunkelberger rounded out the place winners taking third and avenging several losses from a year ago.
“The Pheasants had a good day overall in Dell Rapids,” said coach John Silvernail. “We were very proud of our wrestlers.”
The busy schedule continues for Parker, as they head to Mt. Vernon on Thursday, Dec. 10 and are in Howard on Saturday, Dec. 12.
